Francesco Balestriere, also known by many as "Frangish" was born in Ischia Italy, but moved to the United States to provide a better life for his family. As his grandchildren (15 of them) came pouring in and keeping traditions alive, three of his grandchildren were named Francesco and all called "Frangish" by grandma Magdalena.
His grandkids were always in the kitchen with grandpa learning the family recipes. The oldest "Frangish" also known as Frankie, also loved watching his grandpa cook and found a passion for food. Frankie started working in restaurants at the age of 12. After working in multiple restaurants over the years he found a true passion for Pizza and Pasta with over 30 years of experience.
After following in grandpa's footsteps and trying to provide a better life for his family, Frankie decided to pack it up and move his family to Waxhaw North Carolina.
Marcella, Frankie's wife, aka "The Pasta Lady", who is a first generation Italian & Sicilian, with her mother by her side, at a very young age she learned how to make fresh pasta and loved visiting the local Italian market with her father to gather ingredients for dinner to make fresh pasta dishes. Growing up, every other summer, Marcella traveled to Italy and made fresh pasta with her aunt and mother. Time to time she enjoys experimenting with pasta making different flavors and and only natural foods. Marcella's homemade pasta paired with Frankie's family sauce recipes make a perfect pairing- just like their relationship!
After living in Waxhaw for a few years, they lived in Naples Florida for a short time, making pizza and pasta for their neighbors and friends, which they all loved, so Frankie and Marcella opened up a Pizza and Pasta food truck called Via Mangia, that served the local community around Naples, Marco Island and Fort Myers Florida.
They ultimately missed Waxhaw so they came back with his family, sold the food truck and found the perfect neighborhood location to open Siano's Pizza & Pasta locally know as "Your Neighborhood Pizzeria''.
You'll usually see their kids, Sofia, Mia and Enzo helping out in the kitchen or in the front. If you hear us yelling, don't worry we're not mad at each other, that's just how we talk… we're Italian!
Mangiamo bene!
